W. H. Barrow

n. Built 14 courses across the inland Northwest between 1954 and 1986, known for grass-faced bunkers and routings that follow the ground.

Barrow trained as a civil engineer before joining J. Calloway’s design office in 1946. His first solo course opened in 1954. He preferred to route holes on foot before drawing them, and he rarely moved much earth, which is why his courses are unusually walkable for mountain terrain.
